Chew On WHAT???
Chew On This by Eric Schlosser, is a level 8.1 and 9 points. Chew On This is about everything you don't really want to know about fast food. It contains some of the stuff that you wish was fiction, but the reality is that it is a non-fiction book. It shows pictures of healthy aortas and ones of people that eat a lot of junk food. That might change your mind next time that you want to eat fast food. It also has a list of chemicals that go into that yummy strawberry shake, almost a page of them. You may be surprised to read some of the facts that you read in this book, others not so much, such as all soda is, is carbonated water and high fructose corn syrup (sugar).
My opinion on this book is that every teen should read it. The facts you learn are enough to make you never want to eat fast food in your lifetime. "If you keep eating at fast food places all you are doing is saying is i support your way of treating workers and your way of treating the animals at the farms where they get the animals." All in all, every person that enjoys fast food or for some of us hate it, you should read Chew On This.

If you like small, adventurous stories, then I suggest that yo read Kaline Klattermaster's Tree House, by Haven Kimmel with a level 5.5 and 3 accelerated reader points. This book is about a little boy about to enter the third grade, and his many fears of entering his new school. But when his dad leaves his house, and asks his mom for a divorce, things go upside down because Kaline is used to his dad's routine of cooking, cleaning, and whatever else needs to be done. Kaline's mom is sort of spacy, and doesn't pay attention to anything, so when his dads leaves, things get out of hand; but with the help of his totally strange neighbor, Mr. Putminski, and his imaginary tree house friends, Kaline get through the third grade with no worries.
Stanford is in sixth grade about to graduate... if he passes English. Its the last week of school and the students have a big report due and he flunks it, so that means summer school. Stanford is a great basketball player and he was signed up for Alan Scott camp, which only the good players get into, but when his parents see the report, and recomendation for summer school, he will not be attending Alan Scott camp. All of his teamates are really jealous because he was going to camp, but when they hear he's not goig they are going to flip out... or will they. So Stanford's perfect summer is turned upside down all because of one F on his report card. If you are big on sports and love books that keep you on the edge of your seat because you don't know what's going to happen, then I strongly reccomend this book. It is one of the best books I have ever read. So if you want to find out what happens then read more. Will Stanford pass sixth grade...
