Bandits with a plan

Hawk Bandits of Tarkoom by Tony Abbott
AR BL 3.5

In the Hawk Bandits of Tarkoom, the King of Tarkoom was an old beast that had died years ago. As soon as the kids get to Tarkoom, the two headed beast appeared. The kids, Eric, Neal, and Julie, must work hard to help destroy the city of Tarkoom.

I thought the book was interesting, because Eric has a magical staircase in his basement. When the Princess of Droon needs help, she just makes the soccer ball float, and the kids go and help her.

Death By A Guy With No Head and a Tree

Title: The Legend Of Sleepy Hallow:The Horseman

Author: Origanal Irving Washington, Flint Russ

about 285 pages

Level:11.0
Points:3.0

Stars: 3 stars

The beginning of this, mildly entertaining, book starts out with a little girl moving from Boston with her family to a place called, Sleepy Hollow. Once they arrive they move in and go for the new school. After those events, she and her brother were attacked by a giant dog, they escape unharmed. From then on they try to find out what is up with the dog. They also discover that there are more strange things going on. Once they are figuring out the problem, they are attacked by the Headless Horseman.

I read this book, so it did not lose my attention, but i thought it could of been improved. The writing was great and it had a good story. But I believe that it could of been more intense. Like it could of been that the bodies were chopped up into pieces instead of the head just cut off, or that there was a huge nasty smell that made you sick. That would have been entertaining. But, it is also for younger kids I guess. In the end, it was a book of little importance.

When you're in the forest you should have a skateboard^_^

Getting Air by Dan Gutman is about Zimmerman, David, Henry, Julia, and Arcadia. They made a club named Woodpusher. They wanted some skateboard company to sponsor the Woodpushers, so they can get some free T-shirts and boards, but no company wanted them. So they go to New York, and when they go on the airplane, there are some highjackers. So Zimmerman, David, Henry, Julia, and Arcadia, use skateboard to defend themselves, When they killed all the highjackers, the airplane is crashed, and only Zimmerman, David, Henry, Julia and an old lady Mrs. Herschel survive. So they live in the forest, they learn how to make fire, and learn to hunt. Once David is bit by a snake, so they use the skateboard, killed the snake, and ate the snake for dinner. After couple days, Zimmerman finds out if the top of the plane was cut off, it would be the shape of a U, so that its a halfpipe. After that, the mountain police find them, so they got go home, but they told the police they want skate on the halfpipe, so they did. When they are on the way back, people are shouting for them, because they are heros.
I like this book because it's interesting, and taught me a lot things, like how to make a fire, and watch out for poison water. When you go along, don't be afraid, be a strong man. This why I liked this book.

Artemis Fowl

Artemis Fowl
Author: Eoin Colfer
A.R Points: 12
Length: 277 Pages

This book is about a twelve year old genius named Artemis Fowl. He and his bodyguard, Butler, scheme a plan to get millions of dollars worth of gold. In the book, there are also leprechauns that actually operate a highly advanced recon team known as the LEPrecon unit. Artemis and Butler plan to kidnap a LEPrecon officer and hold them ransom for their gold.

I enjoyed reading this book very much and would enjoy reading it again in the future. I enjoyed that the author created a very realistic storyline and pieced it together very nicely. And for recommendation of audience, I think that just about anyone can read and enjoy it, even if you’re not a big fan of magic and fairies.

So, in conclusion, I think that it is a great book and you should read it.

Mirror of dreams

Mirror Mask, by Neil Gaiman, is a book about a girl who lives in a traveling circus. But she wants to be a regular girl with regular friends. And she is really in to drawing. Chalk painting, anything really. Then later in the book her mom ends up in the hospital. And what’s ironic is, that her mom said before she went into the hospital, ”You’ll be the death of me.”
I thought this book was a very boring book. I thought it was a boring book because it wasn’t very interesting and was really girly. But some of you who like girly kinds of books you’ll probably will like this book. If you don’t like girly books you probably aren’t going to like this book.

bullets flying

Gangs and Violence by Gustav Mark Gedatus

This is a nonfiction book about gangs and violence. It explains some of the things about gang violence and why kids join gangs. It also talks about the security they feel when they belong to the gang; it also talks about the deaths involved in gang violence.

Personally I think this is an ok book, but the information is a little bit old. It is ok, not the greatest book ever, but if you have free time or something, you could read it. I wouldn't recommend it, but if your bored, read it. The name of this book is gangs and violence.

Following Fakeman

The book I read was Following Fake Man by Barbara Ware Holmes. This book is 228 pages long with a reading level of 4.8 and is worth 6 points.
Following Fake Man is about a boy named Homer whose dad died when he was two. His mother never talks about his father. While Homer was in a liquor store, he spots a very strange man with a mask on so he decides to call him Fake Man. Homer’s mom and house keeper, Madeleine, tell him they’re moving to Maine.
On the way up to Maine, they nearly hit Fake Man. Homer sees that his mom gives a really strange look to Fake Man. When they get to their house, Homer goes outside. While he’s outside, he makes a new friend named Roger. The two boys start following Fake Man. Homer realizes he’s in a place where his father had lived. So he and Roger start to talk to people about his father’s life.
This was the best book I have ever read. If you like mysterious books, then try this one. You will love it. Really anybody can read this book, it’s not that challenging. I just hope the others who read this book will enjoy it as much as I did.

Ghostly towers

Everlost by Neil Shusterman
AR 5.6 with 12 points.
One minute you're in the back seat of your car and then, CRASH you're dead. There you are, heading for the light, when some klutz bumps into you, and you are knocked out of the tunnel into Everlost.
Everlost is like the heaven for places, not people. Places that have made history, like the Twin Towers of New York. Places so important that they can never be forgotten. But if a kid gets caught there, look out, monsters, gangs of roving lost souls, and other dangers are waiting to capture you for eternity.
Nick and Allie are GreenSouls, looking for a way out in this exciting book. I couldn't put the book down. You should read it.

So Ya Wanna Take A Picture

Photography by Andrew Haslam

This is a great book for people that are just starting photography and want to get some insight on it. It has a lot of diagrams, and shows a couple different average - professional cameras. It explains focal lengths, lenses, and the basic camera "way". This book uses film cameras as examples, as opposed to digital (but that's because when the book was written, digital hadn't come out yet). As a professonal photographer, like myself, I approve of this book for true learning. This book also demonstrates light and how it affects image. It shows you some easy ways to use house-hold items (lamp, cardboard-paperboard, glasses, ect...) to make real working film cameras that even zoom in on things! All in all, great learning book.
